"Come quickly!" said Nine Year Old Hmmmschooler. "We found something!"
I whipped out the front door and around the side of the house to find my Nine and Ten Year Old Hmmmschoolers standing over a small mouse, very much alive.
|See? A very small mouse.|
"We moved the big water jug and there he was!"
They were excited and grabbed the mouse (with a pair of leather gloves) and ran off. I went back to what I was doing in the house. A few minutes later they came back.
"Where did you go?" I asked.
"Out in the barn," they said. "We fed the mouse."
They did? My two rough and tough farmboys actually...fed a mouse? And while I considered the possibilities of what grain or feed they swiped from the barn to have fed that little mouse, I realized they were staring at me with a half smirk.
Mom," said a certain hmmmschooler who shall remain nameless. "We fed the mouse...to the cat."
This, dear hmmmschooling friends, is a lesson in the English language. "Fed" can mean you ingested food...or you were ingested by something else.
